In Sanskrit coconuts are called “kelapa vrisha” which means “ tree that gives all that is necessary for living”, but what does that mean? What are the benefits of coconut water specifically, and is there anything you should you be aware of?
What is coconut water?
Coconut water is the clear liquid found inside a young, green coconut. Usually, young coconuts are harvested at the age of 5 – 7 month. That’s when they contain the most water and nutrients. As the coconut matures the liquid gets replaced slowly with the coconut meat. This meat is tasty, but be aware: it is also high in calories! So this means the more mature a coconut, the sweeter the water gets, which sometimes could create gas in our intestine after drinking.
