Paleo Diet… What it is Exactly?
What is the Paleo Diet?
The Paleo Diet is short for the Paleolithic Diet and involves mimicking the eating lifestyle of our ancient ancestors, the ones that roamed the earth 10,000 years ago. It’s all about eating foods that a caveman might have eaten, back before the days of agriculture made it so he didn’t have to go very far for his next meal. Artificial Ingredients
Suffice it to say that if it wasn’t around 200 years ago, it wasn’t around 10,000 years ago. Many of the artificial ingredients commonly found in foods eaten daily by the majority of Americans were created in the last 100 years, some even more recently. Once you go down the rabbit hole on artificial ingredients you’ll be blown away by just how much stuff is consumed that doesn’t contain natural ingredients.
It’s hard to imagine a world without farming, but that’s exactly what Stone Age man had to cope with just to exist. Imagine waking up in the morning and your sole problem for the day is what you’re going to eat, and how you’re going to get it. You’d have to travel where the food traveled to, and gather what you could along the way.
This means that they were eating a lot of wild animals, whatever they came across and could bring down, and not get killed by themselves. It also meant that any non-animal source of food found along the way was fair game. Think berries and nuts, wild growing fruits and vegetables, these are the kinds of things they subsisted on for thousands and thousands of years.
Common additives that are avoided on Paleo, and should be avoided in general for a healthier life: aspartame, calcium sorbate, monosodium glutamate (MSG), nitrates, potassium bromate, saccharin, sorbic acid, artificial colors, artificial sweeteners and GMOs.
FOOD TO AVOID:
Artificial Ingredients: aspartame, calcium sorbate, monosodium glutamate (MSG), nitrates, Potassium bromate, saccharin, sorbic acid, artificial colors, artificial sweeteners and GMOs.
Sodas: Today’s sodas are rife with High Fructose Corn Syrup and other artificial ingredients, And have no nutritional value whatsoever.
Partially Hydrogenated Oils: Many commonly available foods having trans fat in them. In response to public outcry on how unhealthy trans fats are, these companies have been forced to come up. With new ways to either hide the Trans fat from the Nutritional Information.
Junk Food: Junk food represents a quick snack designed to tantalize your taste buds with Chemicals created in laboratories for that very purpose.
Fast Food: Nothing that comes out of a fast food restaurant would be considered Paleo, and would actually be considered the opposite of Paleo for how much engineering goes into every morsel they create
Grains: Grains cause kind of a funky response in our system. Grains are composed of carbohydrates, those carbs are turned into glucose (a type of sugar) in our system to be used for energy and various other tasks to help our body function – any glucose that isn’t used as energy is stored as fat.
Diary: no way that early man was in the habit of drinking milk, or in a position to make dairy products like cheese and yogurt. It doesn’t take much to see that many adult humans are lactose intolerant too.
Proceed Food: Any food you buy in a closed box or plastic is proceeding. Actually as the most in the big supermarkets.
Legumes: This rule puts the kibosh on such ubiquitous foods as beans and peanuts, and on foods often considered healthy like peas and lentils.
It’s the physic acid that’s being nixed here, and is the same reason why you’re not going to be eating grains when eating Paleo.
Caveman moved you should too!
