Carbs! Do We Need Them?

Carbohydrates are the main energy source for our human body. Do we really need them and what for? First of all, there are two different forms of carbs with different effects:

Simple Carbs are for a quick and short-termed energy.
Sources: fruits, any kind of sugar, syrups, honey, white bread, pasta

Complex Carbs will be utilized slowly and continuous.
This gained energy will be stored in our body, in the liver and muscles. Source: grains, potatoes, sweet potatoes, legumes, quinoa, millet, buckwheat, other veggieW

For vegetarian and meat lovers, it is recommended to get 50% of their energy from carbs. We suggest covering this mostly with plant foods in complex form.

Besides vegetables and fruits, whole grain products, legumes and potatoes should build the basis for your nutrition. They supply us with important nutrients as well as fibers. Fibers supply no energy and our organism cannot utilize plant fiber, but they stimulate our intestinal flora and help us to digest better…

Our recommendation

Stay away from commercial processed sweets, cereals, bars, white bread, sauces and sugary sodas or juices. They contain modified starches, which are high in calorie and lead to several serious illnesses.

Go for fresh vegetables, fruits, brown rice, whole grains, brown rice, quinoa, potatoes, sweet potatoes and legumes
